Although it may have to do with running a business. It is not a bad story, and should be looked at.To be honest, I have not seen anything from a chemical manufacturing company that is as exciting as the circular motion and the sort of thing that is discussed in the news today. There are a number of websites that deal with the demonstrations that show that this uniform has been worn by chemists all over the world for the last few years. The uniforms are not designed for just anyone to wear.The material that the uniform has been created out of is a material that will keep the ball moving. Once the ball is in the rotation state it is then plated on the uniform that is visible. This plating is then bonded onto the uniform to make it circular motion. The ball can still move, or it can stop moving.How the ball makes its circle and stops the rotation is unclear, but it is certainly impressive. When I saw this story, I thought that the story was very different from the dress styles that have been available for the last several years.There are other things about the uniform that are interesting. The uniform is water resistant. The ball comes in a green/blue color, which is the color of the earth. The ball is not part of the uniform.The uniform circular motion is available at several web sites, and retail stores. The cost of the uniform varies, but the prices are not unreasonable. It is not known to me if this is the only uniform out there, but it appears to be the only one of its kind. If you have not checked it out you may want to consider checking it out.This uniform circular motion is not designed for mass consumption, or a person who has not seen a uniform circular motion. This uniform is a demonstration for the purpose of being shown off at a few events and for making some friends. The uniform will be used in a few events and then disappeared.

Tips for Open Mic 3 Ways Guitarists Can Shine Suzy S. Guitarists, are you ready to hit the stage at a local open mic? Polish your performance with these tips from guitar teacher Samuel B. Performing (like songwriting) is a craft at which any dedicated musician can excel. It requires no prerequisites â€" only the desire to share your talent and creations. My high school music teacher once said Thomas Edison misappropriated the original purpose of music by inventing machinery to record it â€" that nothing can replace your experience of seeing it live. Your interplay with the audience is actually the most important component of your performance. Here are three tips for open mic performances that will help you connect with your audience. Make Eye Contact Most of us are familiar with the term “stage fright.” Even Frank Sinatra admitted to regularly trembling during his walk up to the microphone. You might even have been advised to “pretend that the audience isnt there.” However, as a performer your job is to create a bond with the audience â€" not ignore them. In fact, for each song you play, you should be making eye contact with at least three different people in your audience. The audience needs to understand your music on an emotional level. In other words, theyve come to have an experience and are trusting you to provide them one. Consider what kind of experience you want to give them. Do you want them to feel welcome and appreciated? Do you want to make them laugh? Do you want to involve them in the music in any way? If so, how? Be aware that they dont have to know that youve just forgotten a word and had to make up a new one on the spot. They dont even have to know that you just played a wrong chord. Music is a fluid form of art that (in my experience) has more to do with conveying thoughts and emotions than it does with flawless recitation. You want to reach people on thinking and feeling levels, not show them how perfectly you can hold a piece together. If youre new to the guitar and are playing a piece that requires you to keep on eye on your left hand while on stage, practice alternating eye contact between your hands and your audience. Find one person whos looking at you and look back for a few seconds. See if you can feel a connection being made. A nod or smile helps. After a few more chord changes, find someone else and do the same. A little acknowledgment here and there goes a long way! Read the Room Hearing applause is an obvious indication of the audiences engagement with you. So is whether or not they have their heads turned towards you and are perhaps even smiling.  The closer the audience can physically get to you, the deeper their connection to you as a performer generally is. Keep an eye out for signs of this connection and use it to your advantage â€" particularly if youre new to performing. Unless youre a seasoned veteran of the instrument, I dont recommend attempting to play complicated arrangements during your set. Ive been a guitarist for over twenty-five years, and I sometimes play two-chord songs live. Playing material that feels comfortable for you allows you to focus out on your audience and read their reactions to your performance. Choose songs for open mics that give you opportunities to connect. Go With the Flow If your audience is clearly focused you and your music, you may decide that its time for a ballad or an original song thats especially important to you. If their focus seems to be drifting, you may decide to switch gears to a fast, high-energy type of number to draw them back in. Some performers prepare set lists but adhere to them only loosely. Bruce Springsteens three or four-hour concert marathons have been known to begin with a pre-planned list of songs and then continue way past them. My favorite example here is Richie Havens who chose his opening number before hitting the stage and then let the rest of the act unfold on its own. Ive copied this model in my own act and highly recommend it! As a performer, dont concern yourself with showing an audience how well you play, sing, and plan. Thats what your daily guitar practice time is for. Once you are on stage, focus on making connections with your audience and having fun! 4th of July Fun Facts Americans have celebrated Independence Day on July 4th with fireworks and speeches since 1777but in some ways, the day is more of a symbol than an anniversary. Brush up on your history and learn a little more about your favorite summer holiday with these 4th of July fun facts! We actually declared independence on July 2nd, 1776 The legal separation of the colonies from Great Britain happened two days earlier, when the Second Continental Congress voted to declare independence after King George III ignored the first Congress petition. The vote was unanimous, except for New York, which abstained. John Adams wrote to his wife Abigail that he expected this date to go down in history: The Second Day of July 1776, will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival.[]It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more. (The Book of Abigail and John: Selected Letters of the Adams Family, 1762-1784,Harvard University Press, 1975, 142). July 4, 1776 was the day the Declaration of Independence was approved by the Continental Congress Very few of the members of Congress signed the Declaration of Independence on that date, and the vote to declare independence had taken place two days earlier. But because citizens learned about the vote from copies of the Declaration of Independence that were delivered and read aloud, they celebrated the date on that document: July 4th, 1776. Most delegates didnt sign the Declaration of Independence until August 2nd, 1776 John Hancock was famously the first to sign with letters much larger than other signatories, but historical documents show that some of the men who signed the Declaration werent present in Congress on July 4th. They were present at a different meeting on August 2nd, and historians agree many of the signatures happened then. The first public reading of the Declaration of Independence occurred on July 8th, 1776 in Philadelphia Col. John Nixon read the Declaration aloud at the State House, and readings of the Declaration have taken place every Fourth of July since then. While bells throughout the city were rung to announce the reading, historians arent sure if the Liberty Bell, then called the State House Bell, was one of them. As fighting grew more heated, the colonies slowly recognized their desire for independence and began to create documents outlining their reasons and philosophies. The wording of these documents appeared frequently in Congress Declaration of Independence. One particularly influential document was the Virginia Declaration of Rights by George Mason. Both Adams and Jefferson died on the 4th of July, 50 years later Though the two stopped corresponding during Jeffersons presidency, they were close lifelong friends, and they both passed away on Independence Day, 1826. Two other U.S. presidents had important claims on the date: James Monroe died on July 4, 1831, and Calvin Coolidge was born on July 4, 1872. There is something written on the back of the Declaration of Independence But its not a map! Upside down on the bottom of the reverse side, two lines appear: Original Declaration of Independence dated 4th July 1776 Current thought is that the document was rolled up and the label was added to the outside of the scroll. Below, Italian teacher Nadia B. provides some quick and easy Italian grammar exercises to help get you on the road to success Despite what you may think, mastering Italian grammar isnt impossible. In fact, its as quick and easy as putting the rules youve learned into practice. The following four exercises will have you perfecting Italian grammar in no time! Remember, learning a new language takes time, so dont get discouraged if you stumble along the way. Its expected! Exercise 1: Interrogative Words In Italian, interrogative wordssuch as che  (what),  chi  (who),  quando  (when),  perché  (why) and  come  (how)are used to form a question. Practice using interrogatives by forming a question using each word above. Doing so will ensure that you can quickly produce the correct interrogative when needed to ask a question. See examples below: Che vuoi fare oggi? (What do you want to do today?) Chi era quelluomo? (Who was that man?) Quando arriva Giovanni? (When does Giovanni arrive?) Exercise 2: Telling Time Write down a series of times (for example, 2:24 p.m., 3:00 a.m., 8:00 p.m., and 9:45 a.m.) and then practice saying the times out loud, concentrating on your pronunciation. After youve mastered that, try working on your time expressions next. You can include di mattina  (in the morning), del pomeriggio (in the afternoon), di sera (in the evening) and di notte (at night). Look around whatever room you are in, and use cè   (there is) and ci sono (there are) to describe the objects you see. For example, if you see a white chair in the room: Cè una sedia bianca. (There is a white chair.) You can even take it a step further and describe the quantity of each item to practice the numbers in Italian. Ci sono dieci libri e tre cuaderni. (There are 10 books and three notebooks.) Exercise 4: The Definite Article There are two main forms of the definite article in the singular, il (masculine) and la (feminine) and two alternate forms,  l,  for any noun starting with a vowel, and lo,  for any masculine noun starting with s- plus a consonant, ps-, or z-. Singular  masculine  noun: il Singular feminine noun: la Noun starting with a vowel: l Masculine noun starting with  s-  plus a consonant,  ps-,  or  z-  : lo Remember,  i  for plural masculine,  le  for plural feminine,  gli  for plural masculine beginning with a vowel, s- plus a consonant, ps-, or z-. Plural masculine noun: i Plural  feminine  noun: le Plural  masculine  noun beginning with a vowels-  plus a consonant,  ps-, or  z-:   gli To practice using definite articles, write out a list of singular nouns and then assign each one the appropriate definite article. Then, do the same for plural nouns by writing out a list of plural nouns and assigning each the correct definite article. Improved Performance through Better To-Do Lists Improving Academic Performance In this article I want to discuss two key elements of achieving improved academic performance (or performance at work or in any given area of your personal life, for that matter), and how a simple but powerful system for managing your to-do list can address each element: Ensuring you never forget about an assignment, and always have enough time to plan and prepare in advance Completing any given assignment with a confident, calm, low stress demeanor The first point above is pretty simple. If you show up to math class and have forgotten to complete your homework or prepare for a quiz, your grade is going to suffer. If your boss asks you to do something at work and you forget all about it until 12 hours before it’s due, the work you complete will be of a much lower quality than it could have been had you prepared and planned in advance. I’ll spare the reader more examples, because it’s probably a relatively obvious point. The path to addressing the first point above usually flows through the tried and true method of keeping a calendar and using a to-do list. By writing down all the things you need to do, it’s much less likely you’ll forget any given item, and most of us get a very good feeling from crossing things off of a to-do list. I read a book a few years ago which changed how I think about to-do lists called “Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity” by David Allen. Mr. Allen doesn’t bash to-do lists, they are an important part of his system for becoming more productive. The MyGuru To-Do list matrix, which I’ll discuss in a few paragraphs, borrows much from Mr. Allen’s thinking about how to create your own personal system for keeping track of all the things you need to do to succeed at school, at work, and at home. However, what I found most interesting about the “GTD System” as it’s often called, has to do with point 2) above; getting things done with a confident, calm, low stress demeanor. Allen describes how, and I find this intuitively very true, when you keep too much information in your head, you get overloaded. You’re never quite sure if you’re forgetting about something, and you’re constantly reprioritizing. At any given point in time when you might be able to relax, or you should be focused on your spouse, or your coach, or your teacher, your mind can easily wander towards the long list of items which you need to accomplish. This can be surprisingly stressful, and lead to low quality work, studying, and even strained relationships. By having some system, even if it’s really simple, for writing everything down and prioritizing, you allow your mind to relax, and stop trying to use its power remember facts and simple things you have to do. Instead, brain power can be focused on solving complex problems and thinking critically and creatively on any given thing. Keys to Success Beyond Hard Work and Intelligence Improving Academic Performance If you ask a random collection of people what is needed to be successful in school, you’ll probably receive quite a few responses along the lines of “hard work” or “a high IQ.” I would never suggest that one shouldn’t work hard, or shouldn’t always try to continually build their intelligence. But I think there’s mounting research and evidence that hard work and intelligence really aren’t the fundamental drivers of academic, professional, interpersonal/social, athletic, or artistic success. Before introducing four more fundamental keys to success, let’s briefly discuss why hard work and intelligence don’t really lead to success, and might even lead to failure. What’s wrong with “intelligence?” A few points to make here. Over the past thirty years or so, psychologists, educators, neuroscientists, and other researchers have been learning more and more about the brain, cognition, and how skills are developed. As this learning has accelerated, the very definition of intelligence is getting so complex that I’d argue the concept of “intelligence” may be losing its meaning. If you wanted to know how powerful or “intelligent” a computer was, you’d need to think about both its hardware and its software. An extremely powerful computer, with lots of memory and super-fast processing, isn’t actually very useful or productive without the right software programs loaded onto it. Human intelligence works a little bit like that. If you think of each of us as having hardware and software, like a computer, you can then understand the notion of “pure” intelligence as being concerned with the processing power of your brain, the strength of its short and long term memory, etc. Pure intelligence is what most people mean when the say “IQ,” and that’s supposed to be measuring your brain’s “hardware.” The software, then, is all of the knowledge you acquire as you grow up and go through school and life (i.e., math, science, philosophy, how to interact with people, athletic skills, musical ability etc.). And this can thus get very complex. Some research shows that pure IQ can actually increase over time with higher levels of sustained education. Standardized tests like the ACT and SAT and LSAT clearly correlate with IQ, but at the same time can absolutely be prepared and practiced for. Some of us are geniuses when it comes to chess and art, but really struggle with most other academic subjects. Most importantly, when you observe and evaluate other people to assess how “smart” or “intelligent” they are, you can’t see what their “pure” intelligence is, so you have to estimate it based on what they seem to know and how interact with you. But, that’s a function of how much education they’ve acquired, how serious and focused they were during their education, as well as their social skills, passion and curiosity, and ability to communicate. So, the problem is that people that appear to be or are intelligent (by whatever definition you want to use) generally got that way by working hard, being curious, being passionate, paying attention in school, etc. Intelligence is something you build over time and which helps you do things. It doesn’t explain why you are able to do or accomplish things that others haven’t or can’t. Or, from another angle, I think we’ve probably all been in classes or jobs with people who seem incredibly intelligent, but just aren’t that effective or successful. They may have poor communication skills, or spend too much time thinking about theory without taking action. In so many walks of life, intelligence is helpful, but only one of many factors that lead to success. What’s wrong with “hard work?” Hard work is problematic because it can be applied in the wrong ways. And, when this happens, it can even backfire, lead to failure, and decrease motivation. Imagine that you are studying for a math test, and you spend hours and hours reading over the chapters of the math text book. You genuinely put in many hours, and work very hard to pay attention to and digest what you are reading. You really are still very unlikely to do well on a math test, because math skills are best built by doing actual problems, failing, learning, and then practicing again. Also, teachers tend to have their own personal test question writing style, so looking at previous homework assignments, in-class exercises, or quizzes is probably critical as you prepare for a math test. Reading the book seems like a good idea, but isn’t probably all that effective. If you put in a lot of time preparing for your math test by reading the text book, and then you don’t perform well, you may lose faith and motivation. Hard work doesn’t always lead to positive results and success in school. You need to think strategically about where,how, why, and when you are putting in that hard work. What does recent research suggest leads to success? I’ll expand upon these points in a future article, but here are four critical concepts that are fundamental drivers of academic performance and success in business, music, athletics, and life in general. I’ve included links to other blog articles I’ve written on each of these important topics. Adopt a growth mindset â€" people with a growth mindset believe that intelligence is built up over time, much like a muscle. They focus on getting better at things, not at worrying about being good. This leads them towards difficult tasks with an open mind focused on learning and growth. People with a fixed mindset are more focused on evaluating themselves, and see their intelligence more like a fixed trait than a skill to be developed. They end up shying away from tasks at which they aren’t currently good, which then inhibits their ability to learn and grow. Use strategies â€" successful people use strategies in all aspects of their lives. This means they set goals, do research to figure out alternatives ways to reach those goals, make plans, monitor progress, and try to learn from mistakes. This allows them to put in the hard work in the right places. Heidi Grant Halvorson wrote a best-selling book called 9 Things Successful People Do Differently which is all about this topic. Have grit â€" this is a simple one. Research shows that grit â€" meaning you see tasks through to completion and persevere in the face of obstacles â€" does a better job of explaining success in high school and college than IQ or standardized tests scores. Imagine how important grit is when it comes to tasks that aren’t cognitive in nature. I am writing a summary of a book called How Children Succeed which focused on the importance of grit in academic success. Practice deliberately â€" the best way to build skill and become an expert is to work hard in a specific sort of way that some researchers call “deliberate practice.” It involves repetition, pushing yourself to your limits, immediate feedback, and yes, lots of hard work as well. Several of the books featured on MyGuru’s virtual bookshelf are about deliberate practice. If you want to be successful, you should of course place significant value on hard work and intelligence. However, be sure to focus first on understanding and incorporating into your life concepts like the four mentioned above.
